4 of us went to Crocky trail 25th August 2008, we all enjoyed it but it could be better, on the King of the castle the supervisor was asleep !!!! on the spiders trap the female supervisor was reading a book all the time we were on it, the park was taken over by older teenagers running around jumping on rides unsuitable for their age and getting in the way of smaller kids, on the big slides the same group of older teenagers were allowed to take over the slides and poor bottle after bottle of water down them to try and make them go quicker, supervision around the park was non-existant and really needs to be better, on the whole we had a great afternoon but it could be better with some investment.

Fantastic day out and the kids were worn out.
I can't understand the moaners, if you want a day out where the kids are strapped in and don't do a thing , then go to a theme park.
I think it's great that the kids interact with all the activities, if I don't think my kids could do something then I don't let them on it.
It is my responsibility to supervise my kids not someone elses.
I think it is like a great big playground that every kid would love in their garden if they had a garden big enough.
I spent my childhood playing in a brook, building bridges and rope swings, but it has now been culverted so my kids can't play there.
A lot of rough and tumble but definately not dangerous.

well. for all those overprotective "wheres the paper work and the licences and the insurence" and all that modern day ridiculus legal money fuelled paper people you need to come back down to earth and see what really matters in a family day out. crocky trail is good old fashioned messy physical fun. it brings all ages together and everybody has a fab time. yes you may injure yourself but who cares ? you are warned going in is at your own risk plus you can hurt yourself anywere nowadays and until everybody started suing for "broken fingernails" and other such ridiculous things people wouldve thought it was a fantastic, fun and simply brilliant day out. if you like ur children clean and pristine all the time then dont take them here its simple. thats unatural to me anyway, kids are ment to get bumps and bruises and muddy its what theyve always done and always will do so id advise to unwrap them from the cotton wool. i think it was started by a farmer obviously a brill idea he hoped people would have fun in and i believe hes achieved it!

Went the crocky today for the fourth time with kids 14 and 8 who really love it, yes we did come back with one blackeye and a scrap but the blackeye was due to a child kicking my 8 year old in the eye not any of the rides,it says in a couple of the comments that the crocky is a death trap, these people obvioulsy wrap there kids in cotton wool,if your careful you wont get hurt none of the rides were dangerous, they now have attendants on the rides so it is a bit more safer,my kids have a ball there typical boys rough and ready, the price has gone up to £9 but this is because a lot of people were suing, although it does state use at your own risk, so this is why the price has gone up..we take a throw bbq with us because there are huts there you can use....

i'm a 13 year old girl and often considered as a girly girl yet i always still get really stuck and and have a GREAT time! this is a great place for kids of all ages!
there is always a way round the harder obstacles so younger children can go and still not be left out. take a spare change of clothes and be prepared to get muddy!
there is a slight risk of injury, but that's half the fun :)
make sure if you have a mobile phone/camera in your pocket you don't fall in the water!
to people who say it's 'dangerous' (yeah that means you kate) you need to get over yourselves and stop trying to wrap your kids in cotton wool and stopping them having any fun. All that stuff Kate said about the toilets and metal sticking out of the ground is complete lies. i have been several times and not witnessed any of this.
i'd recommend it to EVERYONE!

This place is fantastic. Have been taking my children since they were 5. You MUST assess the risks yourself. My children are very good at deciding whether they want to go on something or not. If we always wrap our children up in cotton wool they will never be able to just danger for themselves. If you dont like the idea don't go, but leave the fun to the rest of us.

The Crocky Trail is about mud, laughs & good old fashioned 'getting on with it'. You are going to have to climb things, (just like we used to climb trees before the council got scared of people suing them!), you are going to have to cross a stream via wonkey bridges, (yes you might actually get wet!), you are going to have to swing on things, (have you never been on monkey bars???), and if you go to the Crocky Trail, and you are a parent, you need to take a little bit of common sense and know what your children's limits are!
The 'Human Excrement' that somebody refered to earlier is mud. The 'No Public Liability' notices are legal. The Health & Safety would not let the place still trade if they did not deem it fit.
I have taken my children here many times, and yes they get bumbs and scrapes, but I would prefer it to happen here, when I am with them, rather than on some street where I have no clue what dangers they are putting themselves in.
Take some responsibility, if you don't want your children to go on certain pieces of equipment, don't let them! If you don't want them getting muddy, do not take them!
This is a great place, where children can get some exercise, and parents can exercise their rights to say no!

This place just seemed dangerous! It seems to exist within a bubble where there is no health and safety legislation.

If you want to be free of the nanny state for an afternoon then go there by all means. I was glad that my family got away in one piece, although I'll admit to having a good time and enjoyed getting covered in mud.

I too was fascinated by the 'we are a limited company with no insurance' sign, I wonder what the legal status of that really is?

I went to the crocky trail recently and for all of the fun it did provide, I went home with a three day stay in hospital with suspected broken spine, which has now been confirmed as a fractured cocxyx. I am and have been in severe pain since this day out. My injury occured on the Titanic slide, and guesss what I was told when I approached one of the apparently new attendants " you go on at your own risk", of course I do I am an adult, however this is illegal!

I am not the sort of person to wrap my children in cotton wool nor do I expect to pay £35 (family) + petrol to have an injury that is due to poor or non existance risk assessments!

It is a fun day out but please do be aware that injuries at this place are high. In todays society we do trust that when we pay for a service that it will be a safe one, this clearly isnt the case here.

Ask to see the risk assessments on the different rides and features. Ask to see the maintenance records for the rides!! Ask to see the H & S policy and the employers liability insurance!! If they show you these, then have a nice day, otherwise steer WELL clear. We have H & S for a reason!!!!!

Re Kates Review Below

You are obviously one of those people who wrap your kids in cotton wool and would sue your granny if the opportunity arrose.

None of the activities at the crocky trail are any worse than climbing a tree or onto the roof of a block of garages which I did when a child.

This is a fantastic place, anyone looking for a cost effective day out with the family for a bit of fun should give this a try it really is a great day out for kids both young and old.

I have never seen anywhere as dangerous a the Crocky Trail to take your kids. From the 'we have no public liability insurance' to the'accept no liability unless negligence proven' the place is a major accident waiting to happen. None of the activities are safe - there are bits missing. Pieces of raw metal stick up out of the ground. The stream than runs around the site is filthy and offers no protection to prevent kids from going into it. The toilets were absolutely filthy - covered in excrement and used toilet paper. The water runs out into a sess pit that is not even covered. How anyone can say this is a ggod place for kids amazes me. Pay your £7 and see how many major health and safety breaches you can find at ypur jolly day out here if you dare !!!

The Crocky Trail is an excellent place to go for an action packed fun day out. It's hard enough keeping your own kids entertained at the best of times however, I went with a mini bus full of Sea Cadets and there wasn't a single complaint. There was something for everyone one. Nobody complained, we all got covered in mud (even the "girly girls"). Everyone had a ball and we'll DEFINATELY be returning in the near future! Not for the faint hearted and if you go, be prepared for a bit of rough and tumble!

Also, I would suggest taking your own food as the selection on offer isn't great but having said that, it's the trail that is the attraction... not the food!!!

Good old fashioned fun. Kids had a ball....and not an electronic game in sight! Magical.

From an parents point of view....excellent value... the only thing to spend your money on after paying to get in,is in a small cafe offering much appreciated cold drinks and ice cream. There is plenty of seating (some sheltered) to sit at eat your butties.

If you don't like getting grubby... don't go! But seriously... let your kids be kids... after all...they are washable and they are only young once...you might even enjoy being a kid yourself!

Really good place.

i went on the crocky trail last summer and it's the best place i have ever been!
you basicly dive around in the mud and mess around on tricky obsticles! it's £7 each but totally worth it!! i went with some friends and they said that it was the best thing they ever did!! i would give it a ratng of 6/5 but seeing as that isnt an option- i can't!!
there are showers for after when you are VERY muddy!- i didnt use them but my friend did- and she said its better to just wait 'til you get home because they dont really make much difference!! [[...we sat in a bin bag all the way home- so as to not get the car muddy!!...]]
all in all i would say this is a once in a lifetime thing and if you do it you will have the best fun ever [[if you dont like to get muddy, the trick is, offer to look after all the mobile phones and camera's- and then you have an excuse not to be thrown in the mud!!)

Went there on Saturday 24th June 2006 with my son aged 7 and his 2 cousins aged 9 and 13. We had a great time, though the older one complained about having to walk and not being able to take his mobile phone with him.

It's not the kind of place you'll like if you're the kind of parent who wants to keep their kids wrapped in cotton wool: there are numerous dangerous things, where they might break a limb, fall into dirty water and get muddy, but no worse danger than the normal climbing trees type of stuff which used to be normal behaviour for kids.

While we were there, I saw 2 accidents, one on possibly the least dangerous looking bit, which was a toy digger in a sandpit, which some kid tripped over getting into and caught his cheek on a sharp corner, and another kid also got a cheek injury bumping into his mate on the 'king of the castle', which is a small artificial hill covered in slippery silicone rubber. There's a lot of rough and tumble here, which is probably why it was so popular, the boys stayed there for about 2 hours, forming alliances, breaking them again and having a great time generally.

The price has gone up since I last went, it's now £7, which presumably is because they now have 'attendants' on all the rides - a role which seemed to involved sitting around smoking, txting, picking your spots and ignoring everybody where possible - as far as I could see. It was a bit annoying, the smoking actually, as it is primarily a kids area.

They sell a bit more in the cafe nowadays, and had ice-creams, drinks and hot soup.

The Crocky Trail is an outdoor adventure trail one and a half miles in length with loads of activities along the way, such as mazes, swings, slides (including a really scaring looking steap huge one), bridges, tunnels etc.

Its like an assault course and will use up the most energetics childs energy. I would say it is suitable for over 6s. There isn't a cafe here but you can buy choc and juice before you go in.

It costs £5.00 per person. Under 5's enter for free and group discount rates of £4.50 per person are available for parties of 10 or more.

Its open all year round from 10 - 5.
